Beginning
at 6:00 PM on August 19 caregivers are entertained with three humorous
skits by The Autumn Players dealing with Medication Management & Safety.
The Autumn Players is a volunteer troupe of seasoned actors, directors,
writers and event organizers dedicated to taking the theatre experience
into the community.
Since
1992, they have entertained thousands throughout Western North Carolina
and beyond in spaces ranging from intimate parlors to open-air stages.
The skits serve as a lead into a discussion of Medication Safety by
Kenesha Smith, PharmD, Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist with
Park Ridge Hospital. Smith will begin her presentation at 6:45
with an opportunity for questions. Her talk will be an overview of the
prevalence of medication errors, recent medication issues and concerns
in the news, and things that we can do to ensure medication safety.
Dr.
Kenesha D. Smith received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the Medical
University of South Carolina. Afterwards, she relocated to Asheville
to complete residencies in Pharmacy Practice and Primary Care. In
2006, she became Nationally Board Certified in Pharmacotherapy. She
currently practices at Fletcher Community Pharmacy at Park Ridge Hospital.
Her passion is helping the underserved population and ensuring that patients
understand their medications and medical conditions so that they can improve
their overall health and quality of life.
